Hello and welcome to Mama Sood’s Terms and Conditions! We know the legal stuff isn’t as fun as a jar of chutney, but it’s important. We’ve tried to keep it straight-forward and in Mama Sood’s warm, friendly voice so you know exactly where you stand when shopping with us. By using our website or purchasing our products, you agree to the following terms. If you have any questions, just reach out – we’re here to help.
1. Our Handmade Chutneys & Natural Goodness
All of Mama’s chutneys are handmade with love in small batches. Because they’re not mass-produced, you might notice slight natural variations from jar to jar – maybe the color or texture varies a bit, or one batch is a touch spicier than another. This is normal and part of the homemade charm! We promise that every jar is made to the highest quality, but no two jars are exactly the same. Rest assured, you’re getting real, authentic chutney crafted with care (just like Mama makes for family).
2. Ingredients & Allergen Information
We want everyone to enjoy Mama’s recipes, but please be aware of the following allergen notes:

Allergens: Our ingredient lists (on product pages and labels) will highlight any major allergens in bold (for example, some recipes include mustard or nuts, etc.). Always check the ingredients if you have an allergy.

Cross-Contamination: Our chutneys are prepared in a small kitchen that handles a variety of spices and ingredients. This means we cannot guarantee the absence of all allergens in our products, even those not listed in the ingredients, due to possible cross-contact. If you have severe allergies (nuts, gluten, mustard, etc.), please take caution. You can contact us for more details if needed – your safety is important to us.

Dietary Info: All Mama Sood’s chutneys are vegetarian and vegan friendly, and we avoid artificial additives. They are “nothing artificial, and made with love,” true to our ethos. If you have any questions about ingredients or need advice for your dietary needs, just ask!
3. Shipping & Delivery
We know you’re excited to get your chutney, so we try to dispatch orders quickly (usually within 1-2 business days). Once your order is ready to go, here are our shipping options:

Standard Shipping – Royal Mail Tracked 48: This is our default shipping method. Royal Mail Tracked 48 typically delivers within 2 working days once dispatched. You’ll get a tracking number so you can follow your chutney’s journey to your home.

Express Shipping – DPD Next-Day: If you just can’t wait, we offer DPD next-day delivery for a flat rate of £2.99. Select this option at checkout for a speedier delivery (DPD usually delivers the next working day after dispatch).

Free Shipping: We offer free standard shipping on orders over £20. If your basket total is over £20, yay – your delivery is on us! We’ll automatically apply free shipping at checkout (using Royal Mail Tracked 48 or a similar service).
Additional Notes on Shipping: We currently ship within the UK, and we also ship to select EU countries. If there are any specific shipping constraints or weather-related delays (for example, extreme heat might affect our chutneys in transit), we’ll let you know on our site or via email. Once dispatched, delivery times are estimates and not guarantees (we wish we could control the postal service, but alas we only control the recipes!). If your parcel is taking unusually long or tracking seems odd, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help.
4. Returns & Refunds
Because our products are food items, we cannot accept returns on chutneys if you simply change your mind. This is both for food safety and because, well, once a jar leaves our hands we can’t resell it. However, your satisfaction is super important to us, so here’s how we handle issues:

Damaged or Wrong Items: If your order arrives damaged (for example, a jar breaks in transit – oh no!) or we sent the wrong item by mistake, we will make it right. Please email us within 48 hours of receiving your package to report the issue. Include a photo of the damage or the wrong item, and your order number. We’ll gladly offer you a choice of a replacement shipment (we’ll send a new jar out to you ASAP) or a full refund for that item.

Lost Packages: If your package doesn’t arrive within a reasonable time frame, let us know. We’ll contact the carrier and do what we can to locate it. If it’s truly lost in the mail, we’ll arrange a replacement or refund for you.

No Food Returns: To reiterate, we do not accept returns of food products for hygiene and safety reasons, unless there was a problem (damaged or wrong item as above). So please double-check your cart before confirming an order. If you have any doubts about a flavor or product, feel free to reach out with questions before you purchase – we’re happy to help you pick something you’ll love.
These policies do not affect your statutory rights. If by law you are entitled to a refund or other remedy, of course we will honor that. Our goal is to have you enjoy our chutneys, and we’ll always work with you to solve any issues fairly.
5. EU Customers – 14-Day Cooling-Off Period
If you are ordering from the EU, you have some extra rights under EU consumer laws. This is often called the “14-day cooling-off period,” and here’s how it works with Mama Sood’s:

For unopened, non-perishable items, EU customers have the right to cancel an order within 14 days of receiving it, and then another 14 days to send it back to us for a refund. Our chutneys are jarred and shelf-stable (not quickly perishable like fresh produce), so they can fall under this rule if unopened.

If you’re an EU customer and you change your mind after receiving your order, please contact us within 14 days of delivery to arrange a return. The jar must be unopened, sealed, and in its original condition for us to process this return. (We know you’re curious, but if you break the seal, for health and safety we cannot accept it back.)

You will need to cover the return shipping cost, and we recommend using a trackable shipping service for safety. Once we receive the returned goods and confirm they’re in good condition, we will process your refund within 14 days of receiving the return. The refund will go back to your original payment method.

Note: This EU cooling-off return option does not apply to perishable or opened items. If you’ve opened the jar or it’s a product that spoils quickly, the cooling-off right is waived for safety reasons. Also, this policy is specifically for EU customers; UK customers have their own set of consumer rights (which we of course comply with as well).

6. Limitation of Liability
Mama Sood’s is a small business, and we stand by our products and quality. That said, we need to cover a few legal bases here. By using our site or buying our products, you agree that:

Use of Products: Our chutneys are sold for culinary purposes only (eating and enjoying!). We aren’t liable for any injuries, damages, or losses that result from misuse of our products (for example, using chutney jars as juggling balls – please don’t try, those are heavy!). Use common sense and enjoy our products as intended.

Website Information: We work hard to keep our website information (product details, pricing, etc.) accurate and up-to-date. However, mistakes can happen or info can change. We don’t warrant that the site will be 100% error-free. If we find a mistake or a glitch, we’ll fix it as soon as possible. We can’t be responsible for losses that might arise from information that turns out to be outdated or incorrect on the site, beyond correcting the error.

Indirect Damages: If something does go wrong – for example, a delivery is late or you’re unable to use our website for a period of time – Mama Sood’s will not be liable for any indirect or consequential losses. In plain language, this means we aren’t responsible for things like lost business revenue, lost opportunities, or other losses that are not a direct result of our actions or a breach of our agreement with you. Our liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us for the product in question.

Statutory Rights & Warranties: Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit any legal rights you have as a consumer. For example, in the UK, products must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose – we agree and support those standards. We just need to state that aside from those required by law, we don’t provide additional warranties. We hope you love our chutneys, but if by chance you don’t, liability will be limited as described above.
Basically, we’ll always do our best to deliver great products and service. We just have to say that we can’t cover every possible thing that could go wrong in the universe. Thank you for understanding!
7. Governing Law
Mama Sood’s is based in the UK, so English law applies. Specifically, these Terms and any disputes arising from your use of our site or purchase of our products will be governed by the laws of England and Wales. If a dispute ever arises (hopefully never – we prefer to solve things amicably over chutney and a chat!), it will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. This doesn’t override any mandatory laws in your own country of residence that protect you – it’s just the framework we operate under.
